Oglala Lakota Nation Climate Change Summit 2011

Hello!

We have a recent update we would like to share with everyone! Just a short-week ago the Oyate Omniciye Planning Team was very fortunate to be part of the 2011 Oglala Lakota Nation Climate Change Summit! This event took place at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Headquarters in Kansas City, MO on September 21st & 22nd.

Climate change is an important and very hot topic!  The people that attended learned about how the climate is changing, how the climate change going to affect our region (Pine Ridge Reservation), and how to prepare for these climate changes,  Stemming from this awesome two-day summit was the need to have another "Oglala Lakota Nation Climate Change Summit" closer to our home (Pine Ridge Reservation) to not only educate all our relatives but to get their input and ideas on Climate Change! The date was set for sometime in the month of January 2012 at Rapid City.  The location and exact time will be broadcasted once finalized!

Oyate Omniciye Planning Team hits the streets.

The Oyate Omniciye Planning team is going to be out in the community this week gathering data for the Oglala Lakota Plan and we will be attending the Agricultural Resource Planning Meeting: Empowering Districts!

This is a meeting touching on land use around agriculture and long term management. What we want to do is see how sustainability gets tied into that picture. This should be a great event and we encourage anyone interested to attend.
