IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT MONDAY, NOVEMBER 7th

YOU ARE INVITED TO LISTEN, LEARN & GIVE YOUR VIEWPOINTS IN A STRUCTURED CONVERSATION ABOUT THE FORMATION OF SOUTH DAKOTA'S BUDGET HERE IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES.

DATE: Monday, November 7, 2011

LOCATION: Lakota Trade Center in Kyle, SD

TIME: 10:30am to 1pm Mountain Time

There will be a meal provided – please RSVP to be counted.

This informal discussion will lead to ACTION IDEAS for our communities. Over a dozen other communities in South Dakota will be coming together this fall to have similar conversations. Legislators representing our area have been invited to attend as distinguished listeners.

These conversations are hosted by Lakota Funds while additional funding support from the Bush Foundation and the NW Area Foundation. The session will be conducted by South Dakota’s Budget & Policy Project and the SDSU Extension Service. Copies of the SD Budget Primer will be provided to participants.

Hello friends and relatives! 

We have finalized the date and location of the OST Youth Conference: Lakota Today, Lakota Forever!  CLICK HERE for Agenda!

Date: August 2 & 3, 2011 (10 am – 8 pm every day)

Location: Wounded Knee District School, Manderson, SD

Please come and join us! There will handgames, storytelling, how-to-set-up a tipi, Native American Idol, a poetry slam, information booths, traditional knowledge sharing, and on the second day there will be an opportunity to let your voice be heard through roundtable listening and visioning sessions.  Meals and Transportation will be provided!

Join us to hear about all the updates from Oyate Omniciye and the reservation wide Oglala Lakota Planning process. We are looking at sustainable development for the entire Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and going out to the oyate and asking them what they want to see for their future. The Oglala Lakota Plan, once completed will serve as a guide in all future decision concerning:

• Economic development and jobs
• Education, culture, language and arts
• Governance and sovereignty
• Health, healing and access to healthy foods
• Housing and community development
• Natural resources and land management
• Transportation, utilities and infrastructure

We have been reaching out to Tribal Programs, Community members, Elders, Councilmen and women, and youth in order to make this process as inclusive as possible. Want to know more? Tune in to our radio show!
